ANCIENT VIKING WEDDING RING, 9TH-10TH CENTURY, SIZE 8 3/4 10 3/4 The expanded upper half (bezel)Silvered bronze, made by the interior core casting method. Low rounded face. 6. 1mm width, size 8 3 4. Cast with a central core to distribute the metal and heat. The core then laboriously removed by hand, but that removal never completed here and significant remnants of the core remain. The surface cut with a rune, perhaps the sowelu, representing the sun. Professionally refurbished with the silver surface restored. Surface textured from burial.
